Ernest Cider Company to Release Wild Blueberry Cider
TORONTO, Ontario – This spring, Ernest Cider Co., Canada’s first cidery to be B-Corp Certified and Bullfrog Powered, gives drinkers a new, juicy, and delicious choice: Ernest Wild Blueberry Cider. Fermented with Canadian wild blueberries and back-sweetened with local blueberry honey and pure Canadian blueberry juice, Ernest Cider delivers the crisp and refreshing qualities of cider with 100% Ontario apples. Ernest Wild Blueberry Cider is the new flavor to try this spring.
In developing the recipe for Ernest Wild Blueberry Cider, the husband and wife team were inspired by the richness when using Nova Scotian wild blueberries. With no sugar added, the wild blueberries marinate with the cider which is then only sweetened with locally sourced blueberry honey and pure wild blueberry juice. What is blueberry honey? It is honey that is harvested near blueberry fields with a rich amber colour and a strong floral and fruity character. Truly unique to this Ernest Cider product, it gives the perfect balance of high-quality ingredients and taste.
“This is the third cider we have welcomed to the Ernest Cider family,” said Michelle Faris, Co-Owner and Founder of Ernest Cider. “Growing up in northern Ontario, wild blueberries bring up great memories of my mom’s wild blueberry pie and that is what inspired this cider. We wanted to launch something unique and fresh to the cider market using local apples all the while experimenting with various types of local honey and home-grown flavours.” “As always, Ernest Wild Blueberry is still considered a dry cider like our other Ernest products,” states Co-Owner, Founder and Cidermaker, Steve Faris. “Our ciders usually have about a half or a third less residual sweetness than most mass produced imported or domestic ciders.”
The Ernest Cider Co. husband and wife team have been experimenting with local ingredients and various techniques for over three years. Ernest Cider Co is dedicated to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and is committed to creating new and unique ciders that are apple-forward, natural with very little intervention —the way mother nature intended it. Ernest Wild Blueberry Cider is the latest offering from the Ernest Cider family, as this family-owned cidery continues to explore various flavours reminiscent of our truly Canadian seasons.
Ernest Wild Blueberry Cider (5.9% acl./vol.) 473 mL tall cans are available in LCBO stores and select grocery stores across Ontario for a suggested retail price of $3.55 starting on April 29the for the Spring and Summer season.
